Counting Crows

Despite being fans of Counting Crows for donkeys years we have only managed to see them once before, a coupl eof years ago at the O2 in Sheffield, a wonderful gig, somewhat tarnished by theSLM catching Covid there, and endong up crocked for a week afterwards.

So it was with great excitement that I saw they were coming back to the UK but our closest gig was in Leeds... Well, Booked it anyway and have also decided to make a breakl of it by booking a hotel .. To be honest Leeds is only an hour & a half away, and a day trip would have been perfectly possible, but given I'm retired and it might be nice to have a beer after the gig, I thought sod it!

The O2 is a smallish venue, and it was pretty full. It was great to see one of Counting Crows, drummer Jim Bogois, introducing the support act.

James Maddock is a Brit but based in the US, and along with CC's multi instrumentalist David Immergluck came out, Jimmy & Immy..and they were really good... The Guitar & Mandolin combo had a Led Zep, Battle of Evermore, vibe, but quickly went down a more folky route. The 6 or so songs that they played were varied, interesting and I will be looking at finding out more

Counting Crows were on stage a few minutes after the support, and they were truly excellent, the started with Spaceman in Tulsa, and fairly rattled through the set, including a number of reworking of classics (The didn't play Mrs Potters Lullabye, But I can forgive them that!)

Great Gig, Adam was on great form....
